Does CrossFit make you bulky?

“I don’t want to get bulky.”

We hear this A LOT.

Let’s take a closer look…..

What do you define as bulky?

Let’s go this route, what are your fitness goals? Is it to look tone, look lean, look STRONG? Or maybe someone wants to look “bulky”!

I Googled “bulky” -- what did I find? A wide range of people who vary in physique. Let’s see what I found:

Bulky? Nope.

Bulky? Yep.

Bulky? Nada.

I’ve found I dislike the word “bulky”.

Let’s look at the definition: taking up much space, typically inconveniently; large and unwieldy.

Is it fair for anyone to say another is “bulky”? How about all of these people are beautiful, have their own personal goals and training styles and YAY, most importantly- they are fit!

So back to the question, does Crossfit make you “bulky”?

One thing that is amazing about CrossFit is you can be any one of those body types or any one of the body types you wish to achieve - depending on your personal goals, motivation and nutrition.

Will CrossFit make you bulky? The answer is no, not if you don’t want it to! CrossFit is so versatile, it will fit into whatever fitness regimen you seek.

Crossfit is a high-intensity fitness program incorporating elements from several sports and types of exercise.

  • What Crossfit WILL do is improve your health. Staying active is for ANYONE. ANNNNND, you're in luck - CrossFit is for ANYONE! You can make the workout into something you are able to do and guess what, no judgement! Everyone will be there to cheer you on all the way from the start of 3,2,1 - Go to the time cap!
  • What Crossfit WILL do is help build muscle tone to carry into old age. Increasing mobility and reducing risk of falls.  Research shows that doing balance and muscle-strengthening activities in addition to moderate-intensity aerobic activity can help reduce your risk of falling.
  • What Crossfit WILL do is decrease your chances of chronic diseases ESPECIALLY if you pair it with great nutrition.
  • What Crossfit WILL do is improve your mental health and help reduce depression and anxiety.

I can keep going on the benefits of CrossFit, seriously. But how about you just come check it out for yourself.
